Description
Indian summer was founded in October 2001. The partnership behind it was Minesh Agnihotri & Byron Swales
Minesh wanted to share a lifetime of his mothers homemade thali’s, dosa’s and indian street food and delicate flavours
At the time, Brighton had little to offer in these areas apart from the “traditional” curry houses. A former engineer, Minesh stepped into the restaurant trade and conveyed to his customers of “the real indian” cuisine with the passion that his mother and father had instilled in him. Nowadays Minesh cooks alongside the many chefs that have been imported from various regions of India
Byron, a European chef who had worked all over the world in many restaurants on his travels wanted to bring something refreshing to the Brighton restaurant scene. His passion for good food, friendly service and a warm ambience were his goal. Byron brought new ideas in mixing a European finish to an authentic indian meal with his introduction of indian summer’s trademark mango crème brulee. This proved to be such a favourite that it is still on the menu today.
Indian summer has a strong loyal following and is still serving some original customers from 10 years ago. There are no additives or colourants in the cooking just fresh tasty ingredients.
Indian summer came third in Brighton and Hove’s foodie awards in 2011 (out of 210 restaurants voted) and awarded an aa rosette also in 2011.
